A new rumor recently surfaced on tech social media spaces claiming Samsung was poised to launch the Galaxy S24 series with the promise of seven years of major OS upgrades. That rumor now looks to have been misleading.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is billed to debut later this week globally. Specs, details, and even live images of the phones have leaked recently. Not all of those leaks have been spot on, though, especially a recent one pertaining to Samsung’s OS update policy for the upcoming flagship devices.
Recent reports floating across the grapevine claimed Samsung would massively improve its software support policy for the Galaxy S24 series by providing seven major OS upgrades for the phones. Apparently, though, those reports were wildly misleading. Instead of the rumored seven years of OS upgrades, the Galaxy S24 series looks set to continue with four years of OS upgrades—a policy Samsung established two years ago. That’s the same as what OnePlus and Xiaomi offer for their premium devices, for example.
Can confirm 7 years update is just for marketing shits. S24 series still have 4 OS update as usual, but security update expands to 7 years instead of 5 years. The Galox kid clickbaits the world once again. pic.twitter.com/jFCDd6zJ3P
