STALKER 2 has had a pretty rough run. GSC Game World, the game’s developers, has faced many challenges since the title was announced in 2010. As per the previous announcement, it was scheduled for Q1 2024 but has now been delayed again to September 5, 2024, which, the developers say, is the “final release date” for the game.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl was originally announced right after the launch of STALKER: Call of Pripyat, which was released back in 2009. However, due to the dissolution of GSC Game World, the developers of the game, in 2012, the next chapter of the franchise got delayed.
But the project was eventually picked back up after six years, with which the developers wanted to adopt Unreal Engine 5 to make STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl a truly next-gen game. It was then planned for a 2021 release but was later delayed multiple times for several reasons.
As per the last announcement, the game was planned to hit PC and Xbox Series X|S in Q1 2024. But GSC Game World has just announced that STALKER 2 will once again be delayed to September 5, 2024. The developers say this delay is due to a “certain amount of technical imperfections” and to make sure gamers get a smooth experience.
But the good part is that the developers said it’s the “final release date.” That means the game is not expected to face any more delays. As for those who are hearing STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl for the first time, it’s a first-person shooter game that blends aspects of survival horror.
The game aims to put you in harsh landscapes that represent the post-apocalyptic Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. It’s the fourth installation of the franchise, and those who played the past STALKER releases have been waiting for its release for a long time.
