Without an update for over a year, Sumatra PDF Reader returns in full force with two releases in two consecutive days. While version 3.5 launched with 64-bit ARM builds, dark visual themes, context menus to tabs, and more, version 3.5.1 only arrived as a fix for two bugs spotted in its predecessor.

Currently maintained for Windows 7, Vista, 8, and Windows 10, Sumatra PDF Reader is a light app that can be used to view, print, or create/edit/save annotations to multiple PDF files even on low-end computers. This free piece of code arrived on the first day of June 2006 with version 0.1, receiving multiple updates ever since. As of three days ago, the latest update was 3.4.6, dated June 8, 2022. In the meantime, two more updates arrived, with Sumatra PDF Reader 3.5 being quite the treat for the old users who were waiting for some improvements.

Although the list of changes for version 3.5 is quite long, there are a few that stand out. Dark mode and the ability to invert colors are both up in the list alongside 64-bit ARM builds. Released on October 23, this code refresh also sports a context menu for tabs, a clear history command, can open .avif files even in .cbz and .cbr files, and also allows the user to drag any tab out to open it in a new window.

One day after the arrival of Sumatra PDF Reader 3.5, a minor update labeled 3.5.1 was released with only two changes highlighted. The first one is a fix for an uninstaller crash, while the second handles the slow file loading noticed when restoring a session.

Sumatra PDF Reader is available as installer and portable packages for regular 64-bit and 32-bit Windows systems, as well as for 64-bit ARM processors.

In my early school days, I hated writing and having to make up stories. A decade later, I started to enjoy it. Since then, I published a few offline articles and then I moved to the online space, where I contributed to major websites that are still present online as of 2021 such as Softpedia, Brothersoft, Download3000, but I also wrote for multiple blogs that have disappeared over the years. I’ve been riding with the Notebookcheck crew since 2013 and I am not planning to leave it anytime soon. In love with good mechanical keyboards, vinyl and tape sound, but also smartphones, streaming services, and digital art.
