The Teclast T45 HD is a new tablet that aims to win over buyers with its low price, offering sufficient features for simple applications. The manufacturer uses Android as the operating system.

The Teclast T45 HD is a new tablet with which the manufacturer, as usual, is primarily targeting price-conscious customers with few demands, especially when it comes to computing power. Specifically, it should be able to render media well – although there is no mention of Widevine certification and so this is unlikely to be on board.

The 10.5-inch IPS panel has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200. T-Color 3.0 is intended to optimize color reproduction. Teclast advertises a touch sampling rate of 120 Hz, so the screen’s refresh rate should be the standard 60 Hz.

Android 13 is used as the operating system, so customers can expect a (still) up-to-date operating system. The SoC is a Unisoc Tiger T606, which combines a powerful Cortex A75 with six efficient A55 computing cores. A Mali-G57 GPU is also installed. The 8 GB of RAM can be expanded up to 16 GB via a swap file and there is a memory card slot for the 128 GB internal memory.

Two speakers are available for music playback and headphones can also be connected via a 3.5 millimeter jack. The metal chassis is 7.5 millimeters thin and houses a battery with a capacity of 7,200 mAh and also a GNSS module with GPS, Glonass, Galileo and Beidou support. A cellular module is also on board, which supports connection to 4G networks – the use of two SIM cards is possible. A 13-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel front camera are installed, which should also allow for Face Unlock.

The Teclast T45HD is currently listed on the manufacturer’s website for just under US$40, but does not yet appear be available for sale.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
