Tesla FSD Beta V12.1 rolling out to 15,000 employees, one step closer to consumers

Tesla FSD Beta V12.1 rolling out to 15,000 employees, one step closer to consumers

Today we learned that Tesla’s latest software release is now being deployed to a much larger number of vehicles. Teslascope confirms via sources that as many as 15,000 Tesla employees are getting the V12.1 software update on their cars.

While the timeline for reaching customer cars remains unknown, it is promising to see this level of expansion before the end of 2023. Given we only recently heard V12 was being released to a small team involved in Autopilot development, it suggests Tesla is hitting internal benchmarks in order for it to be expanded so dramatically today.

The release notes for V12.1 are:

FSD Beta v12 upgrades the city-streets driving stack to a single end-to-end neural network trained on millions of video clips, replacing over 300k lines of explicit C++ code.

We can confirm that Full Self-Driving (Beta) V12.1 has now rolled out to Wave1, which including 15,000+ personally-owned @Tesla employee vehicles.

It’s happening. 🎉

As yet, Tesla software tracking sites, Teslascope and TeslaFi are not showing the new 2023.44.30.10 build, something that typically happens when any vehicle in the fleet, connected to these 3rd party services is updated to the new FSD beta build.

Tesla FSD Beta Tester @BMmwalimu posted the following image on X, showing a familiar FSD thumbnail from the release notes and the much anticipated FSD Beta v12.1 heading below.

I did expect the thumbnail to be updated to reflect the new abilities / architectural changes in V12 to an end-to-end approach (vision in, controls out), however, the UI we last saw during Elon’s live stream, also didn’t feature any visual changes.
