Fans have only been privy to the list of the 10 most popular shows on Max for just two weeks, but it’s proving to be a more effective advertisement for series that are on loan from AMC+ than it is for Max’s programming. Earlier this week, Killing Eve and Gangs of New York joined three other AMC+ series — Fear the Walking Dead, Interview with the Vampire, and A Discovery of Witches — in the top 10. Warner Bros. Discovery should be shaking in their boots because that’s half of this list, and all of those shows are going away at the end of October.
For the current update, Gangs of New York has fallen out of the top 10, while Killing Eve hangs on at number 10. This week’s update also underscores the popularity of animation on Max as Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake is the new No. 1 while Harley Quinn rose to the fourth slot in time for its season 4 finale. If Warner Bros. Discovery hadn’t sold off the upcoming animated series Batman: Caped Crusader to Amazon Prime Video earlier this year, then it could have had DC’s next breakout animation show as well.
But WBD will have plenty of time to kick themselves over that shortsighted decision in 2024. For today, September 16, these are the 10 most popular shows on Max right now.

Burning Body is Netflix’s latest foreign language hit show. Here’s why you should watch it
In case Squid Games hadn’t made it clear, Netflix isn’t reliant solely on its American programming. It’s truly an international streaming affair, as exemplified by the newfound success of Burning Body. This ripped-from-the-headlines Spanish original series has entered the top 10 most popular shows on Netflix with little advance fanfare. It’s loosely, and we mean very loosely, based on a true crime story that gripped Spain in 2017 when the burnt body of a police officer was discovered in a car. And the trial that followed led to some very sordid revelations.
Úrsula Corberó stars in this miniseries as Rosa, and American fans may recognize her as the Baroness in Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, as well as her leading role as Silene Oliveira in Money Heist. Eva Llorach co-stars as Ester, with Quim Gutiérrez as Albert, Raúl Prieto as Manu, Isak Férriz as Javi, and José Manuel Poga as Pedro.
