Schenker Vision 14 M23
Schenker’s new Vision 14 offers a lot of the usual, but longer battery life is now possible thanks to optimizations. However, there are also drawbacks such as the lower maximum performance of the new Raptor-Lake processor and the slower card reader.

The Vision 14 from Schenker is a compact 14-inch ultrabook and only last year was there a significant increase in speed with the change from 35- to 45-watt CPUs and the Alder Lake hybrid architecture, and in terms of GPU, the optional GeForce RTX 3050 Ti provided solid graphics performance. At the same time, the ultrabook was still very mobile at less than 1.3 kg and, compared to many other competitors, the device still offers very good maintenance options, even if the second SSD slot is no longer available due to the larger battery.
The updated 2023 model, which we have just reviewed as an iGPU variant, brings no fundamental changes, but there are differences. Let’s start with the battery life, which is much better than before thanks to the optimized energy consumption and the large 99 Wh battery. Despite the high-resolution display, we recorded more than 10 hours of runtime in our WLAN test at full brightness and almost 14 hours at adjusted brightness.
Schenker replaces the Core i7-12700H (Alder Lake) with the Core i7-13700H (Raptor Lake), although there are no major changes here and performance is practically identical. But Schenker has adjusted the power limits. Instead of 60 watts for short loads, it is now only 45 watts. For prolonged loads, the value remains unchanged at 40 watts. The maximum performance is thus lower, which for us is incomprehensible. We should also mention that the Core i7-13700H falls far short of its performance potential. Although a 45 watt processor, it can easily consume more than 100 watts. Nevertheless, the H45 chip is superior to the smaller P-series chips, such as the Core i7-1360P with the same TDP, thanks to the two additional P cores and is therefore the better choice.
Our test device was the iGPU variant, but there is still the optional dedicated GeForce GPU. Interestingly, Schenker is switching from the RTX 3050 Ti (4 GB VRAM) to the GeForce RTX 3050 Refresh mit 6 GB VRAM. This is the 45 watt version (+5 watt dynamic boost). Thanks to the slightly higher efficiency, the speed should be roughly comparable, although the additional graphics memory can confer advantages at higher resolutions and details. However, in our opinion, an opportunity was missed here with the new GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop, which would have given a decent performance advantage.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
