How many times have we come across a piece of technology that consciously avoids the use of rare Earth materials in place of something environmentally sustainable? Well, it’s certainly not every day. Ever, so often a product comes out that completely reimagines the way technology can be conceived without adding to the woes of climate change.
For instance, here’s the OPPO Enco Air3 Pro, a pair of truly wireless earbuds that uses a natural bamboo Fibre diaphragm replacing hard-to-obtain titanium for the driver plates. That too, without compromising on the audio output. In fact, it did sound better than most other earbuds priced around the same range, when we got to use it.
We did accomplish more test runs than we usually do, because the Enco lineup of audio products from OPPO has been one of the best offerings in wireless audio for a long time now. And for this to beat the predecessors and incumbents is quite something.
Before we talk about how the Enco Air3 Pro is easily one of the best truly wireless earbuds we have used in its segment, we must tell you a bit about this first-of-its-kind technology.
World’s first bamboo Fibre diaphragm
The OPPO Enco Air3 Pro comes with the world’s first natural bamboo-Fibre diaphragm, which is inspired by the ancient bamboo papermaking process. The bamboo Fibre is extracted through a meticulous process and pressed into flakes that are evenly thick and resistant to perforation. They are then crafted into a diaphragm, with OPPO’s lab data claiming better restoration of natural sound, especially in high-frequency ranges, as compared to conventional titanium-plated diaphragms, drumming out a sound that is gentle and alluring.
It’s one of the key reasons why the Enco Air3 Pro sounds exquisite. Just activate Natural Inspiration preset, done by the Enco Master Tuning team, to release the bamboo Fibre diaphragm’s full potential.
Another feature that elevated my listening experience was the innovative internal sound cavity that works in tandem with the bamboo Fibre diaphragm to deliver natural and clear sounds at high frequencies. In fact, the rear cavity also has a bass condenser design to add that thump to the bass notes.
Hear more of your music
These sound optimizations make the Enco Air3 Pro capable of supporting hi-res lossless audio, being HWA Gold compliant for acoustic performance, with the help of an LDAC encoder that supports audio transmission up to 990kbps, thrice as fast as a traditional SBC encoder, which helps preserve every little detail in your music.
Aiding the aural experience is a short listening test I took, which is performed while setting up the device. This generated a user-specific ear canal model, which got dynamically corrected over time, thereby providing a highly customized listening experience.
Bring alive spatial audio
Once mapped to your hearing profile, the Enco Air3 Pro activates OPPO Alive Audio. This cocooned us in a spatial surround sound effect, with stereoscopic separation, creating a true surround sound sensation. Paired to an OPPO phone, the Alive Audio feature can adapt to the spatial audio algorithm. This created an even more immersive experience for me.
An experience like this should be kept away from unwanted noise and distractions. This is why the OPPO Enco Air3 Pro supports 49bB adaptive active noise cancellation, certified by TÜV Rheinland. It automatically adjusts the noise suppression levels depending on your surroundings.
For instance, it has a wind noise cancellation algorithm that suppresses, well, wind noise during adverse weather conditions. It also has transparency mode which enhances ambient sounds, which was imperative when I wanted to pay attention to the surroundings or otherwise hear someone talk. Meanwhile, the noise cancellation feature reduces ambient noise when you prefer to focus on your music or phone calls.
Little details matter
The TWS segment has been flourishing with products that do wonders for small form-factor audio. But where most of these products stumble, the Enco Air3 Pro shines. With the Enco Air3 Pro I could connect to two devices at once, which allowed me to switch without the hassle of disconnecting from one device and connecting to another. I could easily play/pause/mute music or video on one device, and then resume on another one, all this because the Air3 switches over on its own very seamlessly.
There’s also Bluetooth 5.3 support with 47ms earphone latency and 94ms end-to-end latency making games a whole notch more immersive.
The Enco Air3 Pro delivered around 2 hours of listening time with just 10 minutes of charging. It is rated for up to 7 hours of continuous use, and 30 hours from the charging case, which in fact adopts a gradient design resembling clouds in the sky. The charging case also became an accessory I loved to flaunt.
The stems themselves look much smaller and compact, and are certified IP55 for dust and water resistance. Rain or shine, these wearables are designed to last!
Summing up, we were blown away by how good the OPPO Enco Air3 Pro sound. These not only deliver the right notes – the bamboo Fibre diaphragm, adaptive ANC, LDAC support – but also takes care of the finer things like multi-device support, spatial surround algorithms, and low-latency streaming. It’s easily a wholesome package delivering an exquisite listening experience for a minimum cost. And that’s why we say this can be your next TWS!
The Enco Air3 Pro is priced at Rs 4999 and is launched in India today and will be up for grabs across Flipkart, Amazon, OPPO Store and mainline retail outlets.
