TikTok is testing an option for users to upload videos as long as 60 minutes, although the short video platform told tech media outlet TechCrunch that it does not have immediate plans for a wider launch. The ByteDance-owned app has built its name and popularity on the back of seconds-long videos in recent years, pushing longer form-focused rivals including YouTube and Meta to launch similar features in an attempt to retain their user bases. The 60-minute-long video feature is a signal of TikTok’s challenge to YouTube, and is intended to attract content creators to share more by loosening the time limits on videos on the platform.
