Twitter is actively working on improving TweetDeck and ensuring it operates reliably. However, many would be disappointed with Twitter’s latest policy change about the platform.
Twitter has started offering TweetDeck. The feature enables users to see tweets from multiple accounts on a single screen. The feature is useful for social media influencers, media companies, and social media managers. However, Twitter is now placing TweetDeck behind the Twitter Blue subscription paywall.
Twitter Will Continue Offering The Older TweetDeck Version With Limited Features
Twitter is officially launching its “new” version of TweetDeck to everyone, indicated a Tweet from Twitter’s support account. The new version of TweetDeck appears to be Twitter’s answer to the problem of large-scale data scraping from the platform.
Twitter announced a new policy this week. It indicated that all Twitter users will be subjected to a new rule that restricts the visibility of Tweets. Twitter Blue subscribers have access to 10,000 Tweets per day, while unverified accounts can view 1,000 and new unverified accounts can access only 500. This has garnered a lot of negative feedback.
We have just launched a new, improved version of TweetDeck. All users can continue to access their saved searches & workflows via https://t.co/2WwL3hNVR2 by selecting “Try the new TweetDeck” in the bottom left menu.
Some notes on getting started and the future of the product…

Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, claimed he wanted to thwart or limit the widespread practice of data scraping and system manipulation. It appears the new and improved TweetDeck is yet another solution to thwart data-gathering attempts.
The majority of Twitter users will have to switch over to the new version, reportedly indicated two Twitter employees. Incidentally, Twitter will continue offering a basic version of TweetDeck, with limited features, functions, and visibility.
It seems Twitter has scrapped several legacy APIs to thwart data scraping. This has been causing the older version of TweetDeck to malfunction. The new and improved version of TweetDeck won’t have such issues.
The New Version Of TweetDeck Will Need A Verified Twitter Blue Account
The new version of TweetDeck is currently available as a “Preview”. Every Twitter user can test the platform and explore its features and functions.
Twitter is offering a 30-day free trial of the TweetDeck starting today. After that, the platform will need a verified Twitter Blue account. Essentially, Twitter has decided to charge for accessing TweetDeck.
Individual Twitter users currently have to pay $8 per month to verify their accounts. Organizations have to pay $1,000 per month for a verified Twitter account.
Needless to say, Charging for TweetDeck, which is widely used by businesses and news organizations to easily monitor content, could bring a revenue boost to Twitter.
An older version of TweetDeck is currently available to everyone. However, it is nowhere close to the new and improved version that now supports previously missing features such as Twitter Spaces and polls. Moreover, it is quite possible that Twitter may decide to shutter the basic version and retain only TweetDeck Advanced for Twitter Blue subscribers.
