Volta has announced that its next “high-speed” charging accessory will launch via a crowdfunding campaign. The 10,000mAh VoltaGo power bank is designed to deliver fast wireless charging to MagSafe-compatible iPhones, although it is also touted to work as well with Android smartphones. It also incorporates a unique fold-flat kickstand and a USB type-C port to double as a wired power bank.
Many new iPhone 15-series buyers may now be considering a new stand to go with their shiny new devices, not to mention charging tech that can leverage their new universal USB-C port as well as Apple’s MagSafe wireless technology. Volta asserts that its next upcoming launch can cover all of those use-cases in one.
The VoltaGo power bank is touted to deliver “fast” (up to 10W) wireless charging for Android devices as well as newer iPhones (up to 7.5W), although the “1,000 gram magnetic strength” of its coil might be pitched at use with the latter only. In addition, a user will have to buy a MagSafe-compatible case as well, or use their new crowdfunding reward without one.
Volta also claims that the power bank can be used as an AirPod case charger, as well as a normal wired power bank with 20W charging – thereby matching other products available on the market such as the ESR HaloLock Wireless Power Bank or Anker Magnetic Power Bank 10K that are already available on Amazon.
Then again, the VoltaGo stands out with a different kind of in-built stand: one that can unfold to support an iPhone at angles of 45° or 75° in either portrait or landscape mode. Volta notes that the new 4-in-1 Magnetic Power Bank will be available for as little as US$29.99 via its Indiegogo page, which goes live on October 31, 2023.
