Every fall (or autumn, depending on which English you prefer), Xiaomi launches a couple of new “T” models – high-end devices that are not quite the top of the line, but close. Last year we had the 13T and 13T Pro, and so this year the 14T and 14T Pro should follow.
Today a new leak has emerged giving us some details about these two upcoming devices. Let’s start with the Pro. This one is said to be based on the upcoming Redmi K70 Ultra for the Chinese market. That being said, it won’t be a straight-up rebrand, as the 14T Pro will have some upgrades compared to the model it will be based on.
Xiaomi 13T Pro and 13T from 2023
Both will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC, but the 14T Pro will have wireless charging for the first time in the T series and a telephoto camera on the back – both things missing from the K70 Ultra (which will opt for a macro cam instead of tele). The 14T Pro will also have Leica co-branding just like its predecessor, while its Redmi sibling will skip on that to keep the price lower.
The Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T Pro will both be offered in Europe, Japan, and other markets but not India. This isn’t anything new, it’s the way things have always been for the T series, but the point here is that distribution won’t change. In Japan, Softbank will be offering the duo.
The Xiaomi 14T is likely to use a Dimensity 8000 series SoC, since the 13T went that route too. Other than that, the only difference between it and the 13T Pro is charging – the Pro got 120W, while the ‘vanilla’ model settled for 67W. Something similar might happen again this year, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the 14T skips wireless charging too, in order to make the Pro a tiny bit easier to stand out.
