Xperia 1 VI, 10 VI, vivo X100s, X100s Pro and X100s Ultra official, Week 20 in review

It was a big week for announcements. Sony kicked things off with the Xperia 1 VI and the Xperia 10 VI announcements. The Xperia 1 VI brings an end to the 4K display but makes up for it with a brighter and smarter 1080p panel, and increases the zoom range on its telephoto module up to 170mm. Sony’s flagship also packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 5,000mAh battery that puts most other flagships to shame, and a cool, distinctive design. The phone is coming in June, starting at €1,399 and we have the review.

The Google Pixel 9 series leaked in hands-on photos. The leak details the trio of new Pixels – a regular compact 9 with two cameras, a compact Pro with three cameras, and the Pro XL with three cameras. Expect all three with Google’s Tensor G4, all-50MP sensors, and a lot of AI smarts this fall.

Vivo’s X100 series is here. The X100 Ultra is naturally the best one. It has a 1-inch LYT-900 main sensor, and an even more impressive 200MP periscope camera leveraging the 1/1.4″ ISOCELL HP9 sensor co-developed with Samsung. The 1/1.4” sensor on the periscope cam is the largest telephoto sensor fitted on a phone until now. It features an f/2.67 aperture and an 85mm equivalent focal length. It also gets Zeiss T* coating and Zeiss APO certification which should translate to improved clarity and less fringing at contrast edges. The periscope lens gets up to 3.7x optical zoom, 20% improved light sensitivity and its telephoto macro mode offers 20x magnification. You also get industry-leading CIPA 4.5 telephoto stabilization.

Cameras aside, the X100 Ultra brings a 5,500mAh battery with 80W wired and 30W wireless charging, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. It starts at CNY 6,499 ($898) but it won’t leave China.

The vivo X100s and X100s Pro bring the Dimensity 9300+ SoC with a 3.4GHz prime Cortex-X4 core. The vivo X100s Pro pairs its chipset with the vivo V3 imaging chip, while the vanilla model still uses the older V2 chip. The X100s Pro has a 1/0.98” main sensor with an f/1.75” lens (1G+7P) and OIS. It is joined by a 50MP ultra-wide (1/2.76”, f/2.0, 15mm) and a 50MP periscope with a floating lens OIS design (1/2”, f/2.5, 4.3x). The X100s gets a smaller 50MP main module (f/1.57”) and a 50MP ultra-wide. The tele camera has a periscope design with a 50MP sensor (f/2.57, 3x). Both phones have 32MP selfie cameras with f/2.0 lens.

The vivo X100s brings a 5,100mAh battery with 100W wired charging, while the Pro brings a 5,400mAh unit with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Finally, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will likely ditch the dedicated 3x zoom camera and replace it with an in-sensor zoom option from the main 200MP camera. The 3x is the smallest sensor on the back of the Galaxy S24 Ultra and it made sense for it to either be upgraded or dropped. Sadly, it’s the latter.

Finally, Poco confirmed that the F6 and F6 Pro are coming on May 23.
