Jeremy Clarkson reveals Christmas heartbreak after major loss on his farm

JEREMY Clarkson revealed that he and his partner Lisa Hogan were heartbroken ahead of Christmas this year as Lisa’s beloved horse died last week.

The popular TV presenter revealed the tragic news in his Christmas Day column for The Times.

The 63-year-old’s Christmas column was full of festive family updates, including the fact that he was enjoying spending the holiday period at Diddly Squat with his new baby granddaughter.

But, unfortunately, Jeremy had some sad news to share, too.

The former Top Gear host revealed that Lisa’s beloved 26-year-old horse Bertie died last week.

Sharing the sad news, he wrote: “It wasn’t a fun event, even for me, and I didn’t like it one bit.”

Jeremy continued: “When Lisa’s horse died, I was upset because I could see she was. And because I would have to deal with it.”

The couple first knew “something was probably wrong” when they got the news that Bertie was “lying on his side, in a stream.”

Tragically, when Jeremy arrived at the scene, he was unable to do anything to help, as Bertie was already dead.

Instead, he placed him in a horsebox and transported him back to the farm.

But sadly, he speculated that this won’t be the only tragedy to occur over the festive period.

“At least with all this unpleasantness out of the way, we won’t have to face it tomorrow, which will free up some time for some other unpleasantness,” Jeremy added.

Speculating on what disasters could come their way next, he said: “A cow getting on to the road and being run over by someone on their way to the petrol station? A sheep mastering the art of self-combustion? A fox in the henhouse again? They’re all possibilities.”

Of course, none of these events will feature in the third season of Clarkson’s Farm, which has already finished filming and is set to premiere in 2024.

However, they could crop up later, as the Prime Video show has been renewed for a fourth season.

Jeremy made the announcement on social media the day after he confirmed his exit from The Grand Tour.

To celebrate the news, Jeremy and his co-star Kaleb Cooper tried to round up their sheep to spell out “IV,” which is four in Roman Numerals. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t exactly go to plan, and the pair ended up arguing.

“You’re doing it in the wrong place. You blithering idiot!” Jeremy yelled at Kaleb, 25, who’d positioned the “I” after the “V” so it read six rather than four.

“I’m trying to say four … I wanted to write ‘IV,’ a four, to announce that the four series of Clarkson’s Farm is coming,” Jeremy explained.

Despite the mix up, Jeremy was able to use the sheep to spell out their message with a bit of camera magic.
