Taraji P. Henson tried her best to be the ultimate host of the 2024 BET Awards last night (June 30), and she even gave out roses to notable attendees. However, Henson caught a bit of heat when she mixed up TikToker Jordan Howlett with social media food critic Keith Lee.
Making her way past many stars, Henson spotted the “method Man look-alike,” and asked, “Meth is married — are you?” Now, her remark would have been just fine, if she didn’t then awkwardly say, “Mr. Keith Lee, I know what you’re thinking right now, this is about a 10.9 outta 10?”
The social media star quickly pointed to the food reviewer who was sitting two seats over from him with his wife, Ronni. “I got caught up in my own inner monologue, I’m so sorry,” Henson admitted while clearly embarrassed over the mix-up. She then tried to lighten the mood by calling Lee “fine, too” — in front of his wife.

Following the now-viral moment, Keith Lee took to his TikTok with a post-and-delete of him throwing down Henson’s rose, as he apparently felt insulted.
“Our name will be known in every room it’s supposed to be in, when it’s supposed to be, how it’s supposed to be, with no confusion. God is amazing. [prayer emoji] Thankful,” he captioned a clip of him tossing the rose on the ground.
He later erased the TikTok, but of course the internet is undefeated and you gotta be quicker than that!
Ahead of the 53-year-old actress’ blunder, she also approached Flau’Jae Johnson with a rose and incorrectly pronounced her name as “flaw-juh.” She also called Halle Bailey “hay-lee” instead of “hah-lee”
Social media, however, did not let The Color Purple star live down her moments of mistake.
