Asuria Awards Night Spotlights Top Workplaces
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel played host to Australia’s premier employers on February 29th as they gathered for the Asuria Employer Awards.

Hosted by Asuria, an Australian-owned government services provider, the Employer Awards celebrated businesses fostering diversity and innovation in their workplaces. From established names to ambitious startups, businesses were recognised for their dedication to employment, entrepreneurship, and creating inclusive environments. A panel of experts judged finalists across six categories, selecting the most outstanding examples.

Cripps (Diversity and Inclusion Impact Award)

In recognition of employers championing diversity and inclusivity in their workforce, Cripps emerges as the deserving winner.

The judges lauded Cripps for its proactive commitment to revamping its recruitment processes, embracing a more inclusive approach. Particularly noteworthy was Cripps’ dedication to inclusivity, as they actively incorporated job seekers who may have been overlooked in the past.

TRECCA a Ventia Initiative (First Nations Excellence Award)

TRECCA, a Ventia Initiative, takes center stage for its remarkable efforts in empowering First Nations individuals.

The judges praised TRECCA’s sustained dedication and personalised approach, highlighting its tangible impact on the community. They commended TRECCA for developing an employment program tailored to the strengths of Indigenous individuals, effectively breaking down cultural, logistical, and legal obstacles to employment.

Castings (Local Champion Award)

Castings stands out as a leader in regional recruitment, embodying openness and courage.

The judges praised their inclusive hiring approach and dedication to fostering employee growth. Castings’ commitment to change and patience in navigating challenges earned them high praise as a model of regional business leadership.

Mowing Motivation (Small Business Start-Up Award)

Mowing Motivation earns recognition for its innovative approach to addressing a unique market demand. By catering to vulnerable single women uncomfortable with traditional lawn services, Mowing Motivation showcases excellence in innovation, customer impact, and resilience in the face of adversity.

The judges applauded Mowing Motivation for its innovative response to an unmet need: providing lawn services tailored for vulnerable single women uncomfortable with male presence on their property.

Babana Aboriginal and Tribal Warrior: Maritime Operations Program (Innovative Recruitment Solution Award)

Babana Aboriginal and Tribal Warrior: Maritime Operations Program secures victory for its partnership with Asuria. Through innovative initiatives and unwavering support, Babana Aboriginal and Tribal Warrior demonstrates a commitment to driving employment outcomes and empowering job seekers to reach their full potential.

The judges praised Tribal Warrior/Babana for their close collaboration with Asuria in filling the Maritime Operations Program with job seekers and guiding them through the program. They noted that every aspect of innovation, excitement, and passion was evident in their partnership, aligning perfectly with the award’s purpose.

NRMA Marine (Enterprising at Heart Award)

NRMA Marine stands out for its deep-rooted commitment to inclusion and reconciliation. By aligning its values with those of Asuria, NRMA Marine exemplifies authenticity and bravery in its employment practices, leaving a lasting impact on participants and stakeholders alike. The judges commended NRMA for their profound commitment to inclusion and courage, evident throughout their employment processes and outcomes. They highlighted NRMA’s authentic and culturally meaningful approach to reconciliation in staffing.

Highly Commended: Programmed Skilled Workforce

Programmed Skilled Workforce earns high praise for its collaborative approach in supporting disadvantaged job seekers. With a steadfast dedication to fostering long-term employment opportunities, Programmed Skilled Workforce exemplifies a genuine commitment to making a meaningful impact on individuals and communities.

Michael Betteridge, General Manager of Tourism Development at NRMA Marine, said: “Partnerships are everything, and stories are what humanise what we do. The NRMA lives, breathes, walks, and talks our commitment to the communities we’re a part of, and I’m immensely proud to accept the Enterprising at Heart Award here today.”

Nicole Grainger-Marsh, CEO of Asuria Australia, reflects on the Employer Awards with admiration and gratitude. She highlights the exceptional dedication of both employers and job seekers, emphasizing the collective effort in shaping the workforce of tomorrow. ““Our heartfelt congratulations go out to all the winners and finalists for their dedication and  achievements, and we look forward to welcoming each and every one of them back next year, along  with a new wave of emerging employment heroes ready to step up and receive the recognition they  deserve.”

In addition to the winners receiving their awards, the event also included heartfelt speeches from  special guests Brittany Lee Taylor, Store Team Member with Woolworths Proactive Services, and  Thomas Wright, General Purpose-Hand at NRMA Marine (and finalist in NESA’s 2023 Achiever of the  Year Award) as they discussed the challenges they each overcame as job seekers, and the help they  received to reach their potential.
