RCCG, Philadelphia Assembly empowers host community on leadership, skills acquisition

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Philadelphia Assembly recently organised the Catalyst 2024 to empower its host community on leadership capacity development geared towards bridging the gap in Nigeria’s pressing challenges, including the high cost of living, skills acquisition and youth unemployment.

O’tega Samuel Emorwodia, team lead, Christian Social Responsibility (CSR), RCCG, Philadelphia Assembly, emphasised the church’s role in community building, cultural shaping, and empowering host communities with income-generating skills.

Emorwodia, who is also the initiator of Catalyst, disclosed that event encapsulated a diverse range of topics, aiming to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed for leadership, economic growth, and personal development.

He stated that Catalyst 2024 emerged as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path towards a brighter future for Nigeria.

Temitope Ande, founder & president, She Farmers Initiative, stated that there is a need for the government at the state level to take ownership of the resources in their domain in ensuring economic sustainability for the country. She identified primary production, manufacturing/processing and export, as the three lines for economic value in agribusiness.

Ande delved into accessing economic opportunities in Agriculture by exposing participants to various opportunities in the agribusiness ecosystem. “Nigeria is a land filled with milk and honey. Nigeria has a large expanse of land that is fertile.”

Another facilitator, Patience Frank, a therapist specialising in children with special needs, shared insights on navigating career challenges in a difficult environment, while Moshe Abiodun, HR expert and CEO, Owa Foods and Agro Allied Products Ltd, highlighted future-ready skills for success.

Chukwudi Ogba, managing director, TD Integrated Farms Ltd/Truly Divine Farms, spoke on accessing economic opportunities in Agriculture, urged participants to document all the inspired ideas that come to their mind. Recounting on his own experience, he shared the grinding story of his venture in the agricultural industry and how he achieved success.

Emmanuel Umbu, founding partner, Principality Barrister & Solicitor, guided participants on understanding legal framework for businesses in Nigeria; while James Elisha, a geoscientist, discussed the essential topic of How to Build Trust, while Adegbola Adebamowo , a nutritionist, shared insights on Feeding Responsibly.

Diverse perspectives were shared by industry leaders during the event, including Elijah Adetimehin, managing director, Zircon Microfinance Bank Ltd, who provided insights into the economic outlook for 2024.
