AQUACULTURE VETERINARIAN OPPORTUNITY

Your involvement will be integral as you join our aquaculture division while gaining direct access to one of the leading global networks for fisheries’ wellbeing through Åkerblå – now under DNV’s umbrella. With over 70 veterinary practitioners and aqua-medicine biologists collaborating under one roof, our ambition is to create an exceptional competence hub in Scotland that fosters both professional growth and personal enrichment.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
This role is crucial not only for offering guidance but also for cultivating groundbreaking practices within our aquatic health department. The selected candidate will actively support knowledge exchange between the UK and Norway.
- Monitoring piscine wellness across various aquaculture facilities throughout all life stages.
- Assuring quality control during delousing procedures as well as vaccination protocols; conducting hygiene inspections; managing other critical fish welfare activities.
- Aiding in forming biosecurity plans along with strategic approaches towards fish management.
- Educating others about optimal practices in aquaculture.
- Diving into specific aquatic health incidents followed by comprehensive reporting.
- A veterinary degree recognized by RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons).
- The capability to prescribe medication within U.K jurisdiction.

Be sure extensive experience working as an aquatic veterinarian spans back at least two years.;
Ensure familiarity regarding varied regulatory frameworks pertinent specifically towards finfish farming around Scotland—primarily those regulated via Fish Health Inspectorate (FHI) alongside Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA).
