Misfits Entertainment Appoints Ben Coren as Head of Scripted Productions
Misfits Entertainment has announced the appointment of Ben Coren, formerly head of development at Film4, to spearhead its scripted content division.
In this newly created position, Coren will guide the UK-based production company’s foray into scripted programming. Known for its impactful documentaries like “The Contestant,” “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story,” and the Bafta-nominated film “McQueen,” Misfits now aims to broaden its storytelling portfolio.
A Passion for Independent Narratives
“Having spent an extensive period working on the financing side, it feels like a true honor to return to indie filmmaking at such a lively and innovative company dedicated to showcasing narratives from unique viewpoints,” stated Coren enthusiastically about his new role.
A Wealth of Experience Behind Him
Coren departs Film4 after 11 notable years where he progressed through various roles, ultimately becoming head of development in 2019. His production credits feature acclaimed films such as Molly Manning Walker’s “How To Have Sex,” Savannah Leaf’s “Earth Mama,” Mark Jenkin’s “Enys Men,” Karan Kandhari’s “Sister Midnight,” and Dylan Southern’s “The Thing With Feathers.”
Additionally, Coren played a pivotal role in establishing a fresh documentary series in collaboration with Channel 4 Factual. This initiative includes forthcoming projects like ”The Shadow Scholars” and “The Secret Of Me.” His impressive resume also boasts involvement in celebrated titles such as “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” “The Banshees Of Inisherin,” and “Calm With Horses.”
