Fortnite’s getting a fresh collab, a Kid Cudi crossover bringing the popular artist into the world of Fortnite! This isn’t quite a normal concert style crossover for the Fortnite Kid Cudi collab though. It’s actually to celebrate a new single from the artist which also ties into the sci-fi franchise Star Trek.

Kid Cudi is in the middle of a big crossover with Star Trek, called Boldly Be. This is going to include the release of a new single in October, Heavens Galaxy. The whole single is inspired by Star Trek, which is where the Kid Cudi Fortnite crossover is coming on! Hot off the heels of an Ed Sheeran Creative experience in FN Chapter 4 Season 4, we’re getting another to bring Kid Cudi into the game.

Kid Cudi Fortnite Crossover
As part of a wider Kid Cudi Star Trek collab, a special Fortnite experience will be launching. This will be a mission or Fortnite creative experience. In it, players will investigate a planet which is going through one of the most common Star Trek plots, some vaguely threatening anomaly. This time, it’s one of the musical varieties. Players will travel around the area experiencing some of the music behind the collab in a Star Trek setting.
The Kid Cudi Star Trek event includes a new single and some apparel. It’s a way for the artist to honor an influence in his music. However, what exactly does it all have to do with Fortnite? Epic Games’ Battle Royale is the host for the experience, but it isn’t an officially sanctioned collab. At least according to the small print of the collab’s announcements. It seems that they’re simply using Fortnite as a creative platform like any other map maker! This is kind of exciting in its own way.
This new crossover is a particularly ambitious one. It combines an artist, Star Trek, and Fortnite all in one. In many ways, it’s a great example of how wide the platform has become. Fortnite crossovers have long meant new characters and skins in Battle Royale. The game’s expansive other modes are now being used as the platform for completely separate crossovers though! This newest Kid Cudi Fortnite crossover is more about the artists’ upcoming collab with Star Trek, Fortnite is just a perfect platform for that. It shows how far the creative side of the game has come in recent years.
