AMC Theatres
Taylor Swift’s upcoming “The Eras Tour” concert film keeps breaking records even before it cinemas.
One week ahead of its release, official distributor AMC Theatres says the film’s advance ticket sales have reportedly already surpassed $100 million worldwide.
The amount covers locations (not just AMC ones) playing the film across the globe. The title has managed to lock in sessions at 8,500 cinemas across 100 countries when it opens next Friday.
AMC says premium large-screen formats like IMAX and Dolby Cinema are selling particularly strongly says the distributor. “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” will have at least four showtimes per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Current projections have the film on track to earn over $100 million domestically alone in its opening weekend, a feat only five films in 2023 have done (Barbie, Mario, Spider-Verse, Guardians, Ant-Man).
The film set a single-day ticket sales record for AMC Theatres with $26 million in North America on the day tickets launched – easily beating the $16.9 million previous benchmark of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.
