Marvel has set the stage perfectly for The Punisher’s long-awaited entry in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’.
Jon Bernthal first appeared in Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ as The Punisher, and the character got such a cult following that Bernthal ended up getting his own spinoff show.
However, like many other MCU shows, the show was canceled in 2019, putting The Punisher on a hiatus for a long time. He’ll finally return to the MCU timeline with Daredevil: Born Again.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will also feature Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin. Both characters have already left their marks in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Marvel’s ‘Echo’ has set up the return of both characters in ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’
Moreover, Kingpin has made his intentions of running for the elections very clear in the post-credit scenes.

Kingpin’s endeavors to run for the election make it a perfect time for The Punisher to break his hiatus and destroy the corrupted system that the former is trying to assemble.
It is important to note that The Punisher is an anti-hero and doesn’t shy away from brutality. Having lost his wife and children to murderers, Frank Castle doesn’t mind doing virtually anything to stop crime. This is precisely the type of ruthless determination needed to stop Kingpin.

In ‘Echo,’ Kingpin has already shown his brutal determination to annihilate any obstacle that stands in his path. Moreover, Kingpin’s interest in becoming the Mayor makes him a very different problem in Daredevil: Born Again.
The title of Mayor will give him complete authority to utilize different levels of the bureaucracy and the military to crush any resistance. Moreover, he’ll try to use The Punisher as the perfect scapegoat to win people’s favor.
With time, public opinion on the Avengers and other superheroes has changed. While the Slovakia Accords were overturned, it showed the general apprehension of the people.
Kingpin could easily use this fear as a ladder to bludgeon the resistance and climb up the political ladder in ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’

Finally, Jon Bernthal is the perfect candidate to play The Punisher. Not only has he played the role exceptionally well in ‘Daredevil’, but he also has made it clear in his interviews that his passion for the superhero is genuine.
Moreover, casting Jon Bernthal as The Punisher is the perfect way for Marvel Studios to maintain a continuation between the Netflix shows and the current MCU canon.
This way, the fans can connect with the canon and the Netflix offshoots seamlessly, and Marvel is working hard to achieve that.
