Stephen King Election Remark Takes Internet by Storm
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Stephen King is continuing to hit out at Donald Trump, with the horror author’s latest election comment receiving 770,000 views on X.

King has long been a vocal critic of the former president. The 76-year-old registered as a Democrat in 1970 and frequently criticizes the Republican politician on social media.

“Would you like to continue the rollback of women’s reproductive rights?
Vote Trump,” King posted to X, formerly Twitter, on Saturday.

His remark sparked a mixed reaction amongst users. Some praised King’s comment, with Melody Le Lacy commenting: “No! Not going back.”

“No x 10000000!” agreed DebMcD007.

“They don’t care about women’s reproductive, or any human rights. MAGA is all about ‘ Me,'” said PatrickDoyle_.

“The only reason the extreme right is rolling back women’s reproductive rights is because the population of the country is dropping, and they need fresh bodies for the economy and for war,” suggested @Pensandpages. “It was never about morals and never about God.”

However, others slammed King’s remark, with @KelliDPowers telling King to: “Move on.”

“I’ve never seen someone so obsessed with Trump!” commented @MustangMan_TX.

“What right do I have today that I didn’t have before that I’m not gonna have in the future? Go!” asked Gianna.

“Would you like Stephen King to stop tweeting?” wrote JFG. “Vote Sanity.”

Newsweek reached out to Donald Trump for comment via email.

King’s feud with Trump dates back to at least 2016, when the author of The Shining was one of 450 writers to sign an open letter protesting Trump’s candidacy.

This is the second time in recent months that King has criticized Trump’s policies on reproductive rights.

Trump—who is the presumptive Republican candidate in November’s general election—appeared to walk back his previous pro-life statements in April, suggesting that the roll-back of Roe v Wade was about “states rights” on Truth Social.

In response, King posted to X: “Trump says he won’t sign a national abortion ban, but he made one possible. And…if this guy’s lips are moving, he’s lying.”

Election Warning

It is also not the first time the writer has issued a warning to Americans regarding Trump’s possible re-election.

In March, King declared: “If you voted for Biden in 2020 and are thinking of voting for Trump this time, keep this in mind: In Trump’s grab for power, he tried to steal your Biden vote by rendering it null and void.”

In a follow-up post a few days later, King added: “Trump runs his mouth and Biden runs America’s business. You choose.”

The Carrie writer has also poked fun at Trump’s campaign trail behavior.

In November, King suggested that the business magnate “can’t win” a general election for the second time. In April, he mocked Trump’s Battle of Gettysburg speech in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, calling him a “dimbulb.”
