If you’re looking to switch up your look ahead of summer, we have just the hair colour to help you do just that: an ‘Aperol Spritz’ copper.
Taking inspiration from the vibrant tones of the summer-ready drink, celebs like Tasha Ghouri, Ella Thomas, Billie Piper and Khloe Kardashian have all opted to try out the look for themselves in recent months, to incredible results.
To help you nail the look, and to explain why this tone is set to hit it big over the next few months, we’ve been chatting to celebrity hair pro Samantha Cusick, founder of Samantha Cusick salons, to get her take on the hot new hue…

“Aperol Spritz Copper is how to do copper hair this summer. This tone is all about keeping the copper punchy, opting for a shade that doesn’t have a red undertone, just copper to keep all the summer feels,” she says, adding: “Influencers and celebs alike are embracing this trend by employing various techniques such as balayage, highlights, or even full-on copper colour applications to achieve the desired effect.
“The goal is to create dimension and depth, mimicking the multi-faceted tones found in a perfectly mixed Aperol Spritz. But the appeal of Aperol Spritz copper extends beyond just its visual allure. It’s a colour that embodies the spirit of summertime fun, offering a refreshing twist on traditional hair trends.”

“Unlike traditional copper shades that may lean towards red undertones, this iteration embraces pure copper, ensuring that every strand radiates with the warmth and vibrancy of the summer sun,” explains Samantha.
“It’s all about finding the right balance and working with your natural base, keeping the copper tone punchy and vibrant. For those with lighter hair, achieving this tone may be relatively straightforward, requiring perhaps just a touch of toning to enhance the coppery brilliance. However, for darker hair, the process may involve lightening or bleaching to create a canvas that allows the copper tones to truly shine.”
