‘Comfy and smart’ John Lewis dress that’s perfect for the office is £13 in a sale today
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

For most people, January means heading back to the office after a restful (or at least fun) festive break, and those first few weeks back at your desk call for outfits that manage to look smart whilst still being ultra comfortable to wear.

We’re banishing anything tight, form-fitting and uncomfortable firmly to the back of our wardrobes for the foreseeable future, which means we’re on the lookout for pieces we can rely on time and time again that are effortless to wear whilst still looking chic and office-appropriate.

When it comes to versatility, there’s nothing quite like a good midi dress to check all of our sartorial boxes, and the January sales are the perfect opportunity to pick up an absolute bargain, which is why John Lewis shoppers have been racing to add the ANYDAY Puff Sleeve Animal Print Dress to their carts.

The midi dress has been slashed from its original price of £45 to just £13 here, and it’s exactly what our January wardrobe has been calling out for.

Made from a lightweight viscose material, the puff sleeve midi dress has a classic tea dress shape, with a mid-calf hemline that keeps it looking elegant and smart.

The round neckline and puff sleeves add a little extra style boost, whilst the tea-style silhouette nips you in at the waist and skims over your hips, creating a flattering silhouette that suits almost every body shape.

To keep it from looking too formal, the ANYDAY Puff Sleeve Animal Print Dress, £13 here (was £45), has a dainty animal print pattern across it that makes it versatile enough to wear for just about any occasion. Throw on some loafers and a blazer for work, or pair it with heels and a fitted coat for more formal evening dos.

If you want to whip it out during the daytime, trainers or a chunky boot, tights and a thick wool coat make it perfect for wintry days out. Shoppers have been loving how easy it is to style, with one saying: “Wore with black tights black boots & leather jacket for lunch date felt really comfy and smart.”

Another added: “Looks really good when wearing high heels but for a more casual look trainers can be worn,” whilst a third said: “I bought this dress to go to a wedding. With a pearl necklace and matching bracelet it really looked the part. It is comfortable to wear and I had some lovely comments about it.” Other reviews commented on how easy to wear and adaptable is, agreeing that it was a useful addition to their wardrobes.

If you’re looking to add a couple of extra midi dresses to your wardrobe (they’ll see you through to the summer months too, after all), Boden’s Laura Jersey Midi Shirt Dress, £54 here (was £90), is another bargain sale find that we’ll be adding to our repeat wear roster, especially since it comes in 13 different colours and prints and three different lengths. It might be a new year, but a midi dress is one style that we’ll be taking firmly into 2024.
