Rather than sticking to the usual Christmas jumpers that will be relegated back to storage next week, this year we’re all about swapping them for a more versatile option that we can wear all year round whilst still being sparkly and special enough to wear over the festive season.
We’re ditching the holiday-themed patterns and Christmas characters, and instead opting for something a little more sophisticated that we can wear with everything from metallic mini skirts to leather trousers even when December is behind us.
Whilst on the lookout for just such a jumper, we spotted Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon wearing the perfect chic embellished cardigan during her appearance on Lorraine earlier this week.

The actress was chatting to guest host Louise Minchin about the future of her Corrie character, Bethany Platt, whilst wearing the ultimate chic festive outfit. Lucy wore a pair of knee high black boots paired with a metallic silver mini skirt similar to this Michelle Keegan Silver Metallic Mini Skirt, £21 here (was £30), from Very, and had an oversized black bow in her hair just like this £6.99 version from Amazon.
The finishing touch to her chic, cosy winter look though, was a cream cardigan embellished with glittering flowers – and we knew we had to have it. Never ones to be deterred by a mystery fashion item, we soon tracked down her exact cardigan, and couldn’t believe our eyes when we discovered it’s on sale.

Lucy was wearing the cream Karen Millen Wool Blend Embellished Cosy Knit Cardigan, £95.20 here, which has been reduced from £119 in the brand’s pre-Boxing Day sale. Whilst Lucy’s cream version of the knit has now completely sold out, you can still get it in the marl grey colourway, albeit with only a size small currently in stock.
Fear not, though, as you can still get the jumper version in both cream and grey, which has the exact same embellished flowers and soft cosy material, and has also been reduced from £119 to just £95.20 here, so you can get an almost identical look for the same price. As well as both colours of the jumper version still being in stock, there’s also almost all sizes still available too, making it the perfect choice for your new festive jumper.

However, if the £95 price tag is a little out of budget for you, we’ve also managed to find some alternatives that still give you the same chic touch of sparkle without looking too Christmassy, like this Warehouse Diamante Pearl Trim Cardigan, £45 here, which has a cable knit finish and is embellished with dainty pearls.
Or you can get your hands on this The Seamstress Of Bloomsbury Beaded Cardigan in Cream, £69.95 here, which has a 1940s vintage style with silver glittering details across the shoulders and chest that would look amazing with a silver skirt similar to Lucy’s.
So, this year ditch the Christmas jumper and embrace a decidedly chicer, more grown-up version of the festive knit – and don’t forget you can still wear it long after Christmas is over.
