Wonderskin Lip Stain has rightfully earned its spot as one of Amazon’s top-selling lip stain. As a shopping writer, I was eager to see if this product lived up to the hype. Would it truly last for hours? Would there be a noticeable difference? I’ve tested numerous lip tints that have fallen short, but the results of the Wonderskin lip stain left me astounded – it’s definitely worth the buzz.
I picked up the shade Lovely for £18 on Amazon, described as a chestnut brown hue. This purchase was for the lip stain alone, though some shades are available in a kit that includes a spray designed to enhance and set the lip stain, reports the Mirror. However, I wanted to test the lip stain’s standalone performance – and I’m thrilled with the outcome.
The lip stain comes with a doe foot applicator, and the liquid’s colour is initially quite intimidating. On first opening the tube, it appeared as a blue/purple metallic shade, which had me slightly worried about the potential result if the blue didn’t wash off. Nevertheless, I took the leap and started applying. With naturally pale lips, I was keen to see the level of difference it would make.

If you suffer from dry or cracked lips – a problem I face in the summer – I’d suggest doing a lip scrub or mask beforehand. Like most staining products, the pigment tends to adhere to dry skin, which could result in patchy outcomes.
The applicator is a tad larger than what you might be used to, so it takes a bit of finesse to apply without making a mess. But don’t fret if you do slip up, it wipes away in a jiffy, as long as you’re quick.
You’re meant to leave the stain on for a minute, or even just 30 seconds if you’re after a subtler shade. The ads show off a nifty peeling trick to remove the blue film, but honestly, it can be a bit tricky. If you talk or smile with the stain on then it’s likely to crack, meaning it won’t always peel off in one go. No worries though, a simple make-up wipe or damp cloth will do the trick; just be gentle if you’ve got a full face on.
I skipped the lip liner after using the Wonderskin stain, but you could totally add some if you fancy. One thrilled Amazon shopper gushed in their review: “Was sceptical about this but it is so good. I add a bit of lip liner and Carmex to finish but this lasts all day with meals. Smudge-proof, gorgeous colour and does not dry out lips.”
As for me, I topped it off with a clear balm and was seriously impressed with the staying power.

I’ve always been a fan of the Maybelline Super-Stay lipstick line as it’s one of the few lipsticks that does last as long as it says on the box, and doesn’t cost a fortune. However, I can’t believe how long the Wonderskin stain lasted; it survived for hours without fading, staying put through food and drinks, and even refusing to budge when I brushed my teeth.
Though I wouldn’t say the colour of Lovely came out as brown as it was described, it was nevertheless a very stunning shade, enhancing my natural lip colour without being garish or unrealistic.
Other fans of the viral Wonderskin lip stain have been gushing: “I wanted to try this for a while and I’m really glad I did. It is so simple to use and works really well. It stays put all day” and adding, “I would highly recommend trying this lip stain. I definitely won’t be going back to normal lipsticks” and I have to agree.
Available on the Wonderskin website for £18 and Lookfantastic for £19 as well as Amazon, I can easily see why fans have proclaimed “I still can’t get over how much I love this product”, with one 5-star reviewer exclaiming “love this product so much that I bought other colours right away.”
Given its popularity, not all colours are always in stock depending on where you purchase it from. However, at the time of writing, all shades are available on Amazon.
So, if you’re keen to try it out, I’d suggest acting fast. This lip stain has revolutionised my make-up routine – and I’m certain I’ll be adding more colours to my collection soon.
