New York City, New York, September 19, 2023 —The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and PATH today signed a new partnership agreement to advance health equity in the Americas.
“This agreement is a reaffirmation of a long-standing partnership. PAHO and PATH are strengthening our strategic collaboration to jointly contribute to building resilient health systems, which will allow the region to address our common public health challenges. By expanding its manufacturing capacity, the region of the Americas will be better prepared to face future health emergencies,” said Dr. Jarbas Barbosa, Director of PAHO.
As part of the new agreement, PAHO and PATH will work alongside government ministries, health programs, and the health workforce on a number of issues, including increasing innovation and access to medicines and health technologies, strengthening primary health care, harnessing the power of digital and data to improve health services and outcomes, and preparing for and responding to existing and emerging health threats and diseases.

This new agreement highlights the importance of collaboration in global health as a powerful catalyst for transformative health outcomes as we work toward universal health coverage in the Americas,” said Nikolaj Gilbert, President and CEO of PATH.
