A newly established coalition of civil society organizations, committed to uncovering the truth behind the actions of violent extremist groups such as Boko Haram and ISWAP, has condemned their blatant disregard for human life and Islamic principles in the wake of recent atrocities.
The Truth Alliance, formed to shed light on the tactics employed by these extremist factions, issued a stern warning to all stakeholders involved in combating violent extremism in Nigeria and beyond. They have denounced the recent spate of kidnappings as “deeply destructive to the once peaceful fabric of our society,” highlighting the moral bankruptcy of these groups for deceiving the Nigerian people and perpetrating violence that wreaks havoc and death.
Ahmad Mustapha, a member of the Truth Alliance, emphasized the habitual deceit of violent extremist groups, asserting their propensity for harming innocent civilians through lies, deceit, and various criminal acts. He rebuked their claims of representing Islam, stating that their actions are diametrically opposed to its teachings.
In response to the tragic deaths of innocent Muslim worshippers in a recent suicide bombing in Northeast Nigeria, Truth Alliance members condemned the perpetrators, stating that such actions have no place in Islam and demonstrate a complete disregard for those observing religious practices during the holiest month of the year.
