Canadian singer Matt Dusk is paying tribute to legendary crooner Tony Bennett with a Western Canadian tour that comes to the Casino Regina Show Lounge on Friday night.

Dusk is an award-winning, platinum-selling vocalist whose career was partly inspired by Bennett, who died last year at 96.

“Renowned for his remarkable vocal range and talent, Dusk brings to life the essence of Bennett’s style and honours his musical legacy with classic hits such as I Left My Heart in San Francisco, The Way You Look Tonight, and The Good Life,” says a media release. “It’s an unforgettable night of entertainment, nostalgia, and celebration of the enduring impact of one of America’s most beloved singers.”

Also on tap at Casino Regina on Sunday night is Limitless, a performance by award-winning Canadian mentalist/magician Ryan Edwards.

The show features a special performance by Kerson Leong, who was described by the Toronto Star as “not just one of Canada’s greatest violinists but one of the greatest violinists, period.”

Leong will be performing the Violin Concerto by iconic composer Jean Sibelius. In addition to Brahms Third, the show also includes Burnt Umber by Canadian composer Linda Catlin Smith.

For more information, go to reginasymphony.com.

3. Art show and sale

The Art Gallery of Regina’s annual fundraiser — the Members’ Show and Sale — opened Thursday and runs through May 11.

Admission is free, with an informal reception to be held Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Over 400 original pieces by more than 100 artists from across Saskatchewan are available for purchase. They include photo collages, paintings, textiles, jewellery, sculptures, etc.

The event is the most important fundraiser of the year for the gallery, with proceeds going toward its various free programs and exhibitions.

For more info, visit artgalleryofregina.ca.

4. Fore!

The City of Regina announced this week that three city-owned public golf courses — the Murray, Tor Hill and Joanne Goulet — are slated to tee off for the 2024 season beginning Saturday.

Bookings are open now.

For more information and updates, visit regina.ca/golf.

5. New vintage market

The Heritage Community Association is hosting its first-ever antique and vintage market on Saturday (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at the Mitakuyé Owâs’ā Centre (1770 Halifax Street).

The market features a wide range of items from local vendors, including a vintage confectionery.

Admission is free or by donation.

If you have an event that should be featured in Five Things, please send details to [email protected].
