A deal to transfer medicine to Israeli hostages in exchange for aid to civilians in Gaza is underway, according to an Israeli official speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive issue. The rare diplomatic breakthrough, brokered by Qatar and France, is expected to provide medicine to at least 45 hostages. The United States on Wednesday said it would designate the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen as a terrorist group starting next month. The move comes after the United States launched an attack against the group in retaliation for Houthi strikes on commercial ships in the Red Sea.
