The Windsor Spitfires will be on the move during exhibition play.
The Ontario Hockey League released its 2024-25 pre-season schedule on Thursday and three of the Spitfires’ five exhibition games will be home games. However, only one of those games will be played at the WFCU Centre.
Windsor will play its first exhibition game at the WFCU Centre on Sept. 6 against the Sarnia Sting at 7:05 p.m.

The club will then play road games against the Flint Firebirds at 4 p.m. on Sept. 8 and against the Sting on Sept. 17 at 7:05 p.m.
The club’s final two exhibition games are listed as home games, but the Spitfires will face the Firebirds on Sept. 19 at the Vollmer Centre in LaSalle at 7:05 p.m. Windsor closes exhibition play on Sept. 21 against the Niagara IceDogs at the Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore at 7:05 p.m.
The Vollmer Centre is home to the LaSalle Vipers and the Atlas Tube Centre home to the Schmalz Cup champion Lakeshore Canadiens. Both clubs are owned by the Spitfire ownership group of John Savage, Stephen Savage and Brian Schwab.
Greyhounds sign Gillen
Amherstburg’s Keegan Gillen has signed with the OHL’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
The 17-year-old Gillen was a 14th-round OHL Draft pick by the Greyhounds, going 265th overall, in 2023.
This past season, the five-foot-11, 181-pound Gillen posted seven goals and 31 points in 56 games for the Detroit Little Caesars U16 team.
“Keegan had an outstanding year with Little Caesars U16, earning trust with significant ice time in all situations, which great advanced his development,” Greyhounds’ general manager Kyle Raftis said in a release. “As a defender, he excels in his ability to see the ice and and is highly effective, not only in transition with a sharp first pass, but also in controlling the blue line with a powerful shot.”
Agosta camp returns
Ruthven native Meghan Agosta is bringing her High Performance Hockey Academy back to the area.
A four-time Olympian that won three gold medals with the Canadian women’s hockey team, Agosta’s camp is set for July 29 to Aug. 2 at the WFCU Centre and Aug. 12 to 16 at the Nature Fresh Centre.
The camp is broken into age groups for players seven to 11 and age 12 to 16 and will feature 15 hours of ice time for the week.
