Greyhounds sign Gillen

Amherstburg’s Keegan Gillen has signed with the OHL’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

The 17-year-old Gillen was a 14th-round OHL Draft pick by the Greyhounds, going 265th overall, in 2023.

This past season, the five-foot-11, 181-pound Gillen posted seven goals and 31 points in 56 games for the Detroit Little Caesars U16 team.

“Keegan had an outstanding year with Little Caesars U16, earning trust with significant ice time in all situations, which great advanced his development,” Greyhounds’ general manager Kyle Raftis said in a release. “As a defender, he excels in his ability to see the ice and and is highly effective, not only in transition with a sharp first pass, but also in controlling the blue line with a powerful shot.”

A four-time Olympian that won three gold medals with the Canadian women’s hockey team, Agosta’s camp is set for July 29 to Aug. 2 at the WFCU Centre and Aug. 12 to 16 at the Nature Fresh Centre.

The camp is broken into age groups for players seven to 11 and age 12 to 16 and will feature 15 hours of ice time for the week.
