The Manchester United Foundation has recently unveiled its Season Review for the 2022/23 campaign, showcasing the remarkable achievements of our official charity over the past year. Established in 2007 as a tribute to the Busby Babes, the Foundation aims to nurture the talents of young individuals in areas of high social deprivation across Greater Manchester and beyond.
Through the implementation of community outreach and education programs, the Foundation has successfully guided young people in making positive choices that have a profound impact on their lives. This impact has been particularly evident over the course of the last 12 months.
In the report, Collette Roche, chair of Manchester United Foundation and chief operating officer of Manchester United, expresses her appreciation for the Season Review: “It provides a platform for everyone involved and interested in the Manchester United Foundation to celebrate and reflect on the achievements of the past year.”
She further adds, “This year has been record-breaking. We have witnessed a 29 percent increase in our outreach programs, resulting in over 30,000 sessions being delivered to children and young individuals in Greater Manchester and beyond. The total number of participants is close to half a million, which is truly remarkable.”
“Looking ahead, we are excited to make plans for the upcoming season. With your continued support, I am confident that we will continue to break even more records,” Roche concludes.
The Foundation’s impact extends beyond the present, as demonstrated by the generosity of Ruth, who maintained her connection with the club even after passing away through a significant donation.
Notable highlights from the past year include the return of Dream Day experiences, where fans with life-limiting illnesses had the opportunity to meet players from the men’s team at Carrington. The involvement of Legends in Foundation activities, particularly during the match against Liverpool, as well as the community engagement of both the men’s and women’s team players, have also been significant contributions.
The Season Review also sheds light on the stories of individual participants like Fayyaz, Sid, and Ella, who have undergone tremendous personal growth as a result of benefiting from the Foundation’s programs throughout the year.
