Keven Jones, principal of Mona High School, has opted to punish students involved in a commotion on the grounds of Jamaica College (JC) yesterday during their parade for winning the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup schoolboy football title.
Jones, in a release later yesterday, stated that the offenders, who hurled disrespectful words at individuals on the compound of JC, are yet to be identified. The supporters’ actions were captured in a viral video circulated on social media.
“While we have not yet identified the perpetrators of this most disrespectful behaviour, I assure you they will be caught and the necessary sanctions applied. It is worth mentioning that this unfortunate event does not represent what we stand for at Mona High School,” Jones stated in the release.
He also apologised profusely to the staff and students of JC and the wider community for the student’s distasteful behaviour.
“Please accept this letter as formal correspondence on an incident involving Mona High School students. We received video footage showing some of our students, during our Manning Cup victory parade, gaining access to the premises of JC. The video shows a student gesticulating with a gun finger while another could be heard using expletives.
“This is most unfortunate and a flagrant disrespect, not only to JC but also to Mona. We sincerely hope that this unfortunate event is never repeated,” Jones stated.
