In a candid interview on What A Life Podcast with Slikour, Stogie T highlighted his belief that the Big 3 rappers in the US namely Kendrick Lamar, J Cole and Drake are not special lyricists. “Before we really start this conversation, I have to do a sanity check and say look, first of all, Drake, Kendrick and Cole aren’t special lyricists right, yes okay, let’s continue. That’s where I start, I go they’re dope but they are not special,” Stogie T said.
“They are not Lupe, Lupe is special, AESOP ROCK is special, Jay-Z is special, Nas is special. Kendrick is alright, Cole is alright. Kendrick is not better than me,” he added.
Stogie T’s remarks ignited a debate on social media platforms, with many fans and fellow artists weighing in on what Tumi said. Priddy Ugly, known for his own lyrical prowess and contributions to the South African rap scene, took to X to offer his perspective on Stogie T’s critique. In his post, Priddy Ugly said he has nothing to do with what another man (Stogie T) feels as he also clarified that Stogie T was referring to Aesop Rock not ASAP Rocky.

Even though Stogie T maintained his stance, 50,000 SA Hip Hop fans affirmed in a poll conducted by SA Hip Hop Mag that he is a superior lyricist compared to the top three US rappers.
