A 27-year-old woman is dead and a 31-year-old woman in hospital with serious injuries after an incident in the city on Friday

A 27-year-old woman is dead and a 31-year-old woman in hospital with serious injuries after an incident in Prince Albert on Friday — the second homicide of the Thanksgiving weekend in the city.
Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) said in a news release that officers were called to a weapons complaint in the 300 block of 13th Street East on Oct. 6 around 5:15 p.m., and found the 27-year-old female with serious injuries. She was taken to Victoria Hospital by Parkland Ambulance where she later died.

The 31-year-old woman with serious injuries stemming from the same incident was driven to the hospital by an acquaintance and police said she was in stable condition. An autopsy for the dead woman is scheduled for Oct. 10.
Traffic restrictions were in place in the 13th St E area for much of the day on Saturday while PAPS criminal investigation division, crime reduction team and forensic identification section continue to investigate, but were lifted late afternoon. No arrests have been made.

Earlier in the weekend, a 29-year-old man turned himself in and was arrested for murder after the death of a 37-year-old man in Prince Albert on Friday. PAPS said that on Oct. 6 officers were called around 7:15 a.m. to a multi-dwelling residence in the 100 block of 11th Street West, where they found the victim. The man will face second-degree murder charges on Tuesday, when he is scheduled to appear in court.

In the city’s first homicide of 2023, a 35-year-old woman was killed on May 6 in the 1100 block of Second Street East, and a 42-year-old man was the victim of Prince Albert’s second homicide after being killed on July 22 at a known encampment in the 300 block of 18th Street East.
