This Type 57 Atlantic-inspired Bugatti Chiron Super Sport ‘57 One of One’ is a birthday gift from a client to his 70-year old wife.
The Sur Mesure team worked hand-in-hand with engineers at Bugatti to create the Chiron Super Sport ‘57 One of One’.
Like the Type 57 SC Atlantic, the Chiron Super Sport ‘57 One of One’ is finished in striking silver-tinted blue hue.
French hypercar maker has unveiled the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport ‘57 One of One’ – a one-off bespoke hypercar inspired by the legendary 1930s Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic, commissioned by the brand’s longstanding client.
Bugatti said the one-off Chiron was a surprise 70th birthday gift for the client’s wife, who fell in love with the Type 57 SC Atlantic ever since seeing the iconic car at the Mullin Automotive Museum in California 20 years ago.
“I remember the day like it was yesterday. I visited the Mullin Automotive Museum at Oxnard, and there it was, one of only three cars that still remain, on a pedestal all by itself. I fell in love with it from the very second I saw it,” she said.
The Bugatti Chiron SS ‘57 One of One’ is Bugatti’s most recent ‘Sur Mesure’ project, and to configure her own Chiron Super Sport, the customer and her husband flew to Bugatti home in Molsheim in France.
“During her visit, when we passed a scale model of the Type 57 SC – the very first Atlantic and the exact one she had seen all those years ago – there was an immediate spark of recognition between us that this is the direction we should take,” said Jascha Straub, Lead Designer Sur Mesure at Bugatti.
The Sur Mesure team worked hand-in-hand with engineers at Bugatti to create the Chiron Super Sport ‘57 One of One’, and like the Type 57 SC, the Chiron Super Sport ‘57 One of One’ is finished in striking silver-tinted blue hue.
Other distinct features on the outside include a hand-drawn silhouette of the Type 57 SC Atlantic, finished with ‘57’ on the underside of the rear wing and ‘One of One’ lettering. The signatures of Jean Bugatti and Rembrandt are also applied to the door sills.
“The customer’s enthusiasm and active engagement throughout the whole design process were a constant source of inspiration,” continued Straub.
Inside, the customer selected ‘Gaucho’ leather, while the iconic ‘Dancing Elephant’ sculpture of Rembrandt Bugatti is delicately embroidered on the headrests,
Notable highlights inside include the Atlantic’s silhouette hand-stitched in ‘Lightning Blue’ on the door panels and a center console with a custom inlay that proclaims ‘57 One of One’.
