‘TRANSFER FUNDS EXPOSED’ – Man Utd Might Have Less Than £20m Left After Completing Just 2 Deals
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Manchester United may be left with a meager £20 million of their original transfer budget after completing just two deals this summer.
The Red Devils are on the verge of securing the services of Mason Mount and have their sights set on Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund, as manager Erik ten Hag aims to strengthen his squad.

Ten Hag has identified key targets to bolster United’s ranks, with Chelsea’s Mount expected to make the move once a transfer fee is agreed between the two Premier League clubs.

The intention behind pursuing Mount is to enhance United’s midfield, while Hojlund’s arrival would alleviate the goal-scoring burden on Marcus Rashford.
The Danish prodigy may have scored only nine times in Serie A last season but has already netted nine goals in just nine international appearances.

However, these acquisitions are likely to eat up a significant portion of United’s transfer budget. The combined cost for Mount and Hojlund could reach £130 million, with an astonishing £70 million allegedly quoted by Chelsea for Mount’s services.

According to ESPN, United had an original transfer budget of up to £150m. However, that figure is set to be boosted by any fees they receive for stars who leave the club this summer.

The initial budget is set to be almost entirely depleted if Mount and Hojlund are signed, though. Wide-ranging reports suggest Chelsea have demanded between £60-70m for the England star.

Nevertheless, if the signings of Mount and Hojlund go through, the majority of the original budget will be depleted. Various sources indicate that Chelsea is demanding a fee ranging from £60-70 million for Mount, while Atalanta values Hojlund at £60 million, as revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

With these potential acquisitions, United’s expenditure on their first two deals may already total around £130 million.

Ten Hag is eager for a mini squad overhaul this summer, recognizing the need for significant upgrades if United are to compete against rivals Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool for silverware in the upcoming season.

The midfield and attacking departments are the primary areas of concern, and the potential signings of Mount and Hojlund would address these issues. Additionally, defensive reinforcements are sought, and a replacement for goalkeeper David De Gea is also in the club’s plans.

Reports suggest that United has identified Inter Milan’s Andre Onana as a potential alternative to De Gea, whose contract is set to expire later this month.

According to MEN, some figures within the club are inclined to completely part ways with the Spaniard, despite offering him a new contract. If De Gea stays, it is highly likely that he will be second-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming season.

As the summer transfer window progresses, Manchester United’s budgetary constraints and strategic moves will continue to shape their squad ahead of the new campaign.
