Fast-rising dancehall artistes Jahzeal and Lia Caribe are ‘vibing’ to the sound of their new tracks, featured on Usain Bolt’s upcoming album Escape Riddim.
“Usain is a big legend and I feel so amazing that he has taken an interest in my voice. This is the second time I’m working on a project with him and I feel great because he’s greatness and that’s what I’m aiming to be,” said Caribe.
In her featured song, Never Love Again, she said she felt as if she is experiencing the emotions of her song now, despite composing those lyrics a year ago.
“Maybe I wasn’t going through it then but now, I would never love again – not to say I would never love another man, nor ever be in a relationship. But I mean I’d love myself more. It’s a song that teaches the ladies that if you love yourself more than anything else in the world, no heartbreak, nothing that comes in your way negatively will ever break you,” she explained.
As for Jahzeal, working on projects with the legend is always a “blessing” as they have previously collaborated on singles such as Try Harder and More Alcohol under the A-Team Lifestyle label.
“The rhythm inspired a lot of different melodies and I think all the songs on the project are beautiful,” Jahzeal said, before explaining his song Villain.
“I’m saying I can’t be your hero because I’m a villain, so whichever guy is trying to steal your heart, I can’t save you from him because I’m tryna steal your heart as well. I placed a twist on it as it relates to movies so I used a lot of movie references in it,” he shared.
Both artistes are also optimistic about working on future musical projects with Bolt.
Jahzeal, who is known for songs such as Toxic, Lessons and Knockist is looking forward to collaborate with Christopher Martin and Busy Signal who are also featured on Escape Riddim. He promised that his soon-to-be-released song, Turn Mi On, will be a “super hit”.
Caribe said the inspiration to do music came from her mother, who is a professional, classical singer. She is set to release her upcoming single featuring dancehall artiste Charly Black and a collaboration with Christopher Martin. She will also be featured on Cecile’s juggling rhythm that is set to be released soon.
