The Shadow Society is the Apex Legends’ newest event. The event comes with mid-season patch notes, a brand new LTM and some disappointment. We will be going through all of it in this article.
Apex Legends is a beloved battle royale famous for its smooth movement and gunplay. The Shadow Society event is one of the many in-game events held this season. In true Apex fashion, the event brings multiple ways for players to enjoy the game. The event will also change how people have played the game this season with mid-season patch notes.
Shadow Society Event brings new skins and a limited-time mode (LTM) that will eventually get added to the mixtape game mode. So strap in as we go through everything the Shadow Society has in store for us.
Shadow Society – Skins
Like prior events in Apex, the Shadow Society Event gives players new skins to customize their characters. The trailer that came with the event’s announcement showcased some of these unique skins.
The skins follow a theme like every event. The Shadow Society Event aims for classy, vintage outfits for our beloved Legends to adorn and kill their enemies. The event gives off massive John Wick vibes.
We will be listing down the skins we found in the trailer.
Ballistic
Ballistic is one of the legends showcased the most in the trailer. The old timer has always been classy, but this new look gives him the flair he had in his youth. This skin is also showcased as a pair with a weapon skin for the G7 Scout.
Bloodhound
The Viking Warrior is getting a dapper look for being a part of the shadow society. Their suit features raven feathers on the shoulder pads. They also receive a unique mask that resembles a Japanese Oni mask.
Bloodhound may be getting more than one skin for the Shadow Society. Throughout the trailer, we catch glimpses of Bloodhound adorning a headgear different from the one they usually wear. It is also different from the skin we already looked at.
Mad Maggie
Salvo’s Freedom Fighter Mad Maggie gets a new look, too. The Shadow Society gives our shady friend a rather uplifting outfit. She also has a face tattoo to go with the look.
Horizon
For this event, our Space Mother Horizon wears a fashionable blue suit and gets a new haircut. She also has a weapon skin paired with her, this time the Longbow.
Revenant
Revenant left the Shadow Realm and joined the Shadow Society in this new look. He was brandishing a design not seen on the robot assassin before. He also brings a unique Wingman skin to the table.
Lifeline
Finally, we have Lifeline, who seems to have stolen Seer’s Fedora for her outfit. She also brings a Weapon to the society, the 30-30 Repeater.
Shadow Society – LTM
The Shadow Society brings a new game mode for Apex. The name of the LTM is Lockdown. Players have to protect a sector of the map to win. Players will have to capture different areas of the map with their squad in order to win the game. The mode will have four teams fighting for dominance on the battlefield. Players will earn points with each capture, and the first to reach 500 points will win.
Universal Heirloom
The Event also gives us our second universal heirloom. This time, it is the Cobalt Katar. This melee skin will be available for use on every Legend, like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Event’s Buster Sword. This heirloom can be unlocked from one of the Event packs the Shadow Society is providing.
The Disappointment
Apex Legends is often criticized for having events that are more focused on making money than providing a fun experience. Apex came under a lot of scrutiny last season during the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Event.
The event was a collection event where players would get rewards upon purchasing everything from the event. The reward Apex has in mind is a Deathbox. According to most fans, it is an in-game item that requires no cosmetics. On top of that, in order to purchase all the items, players would have to spend $300, an absurdly high price for cosmetics.
Fans were infuriated by this Gacha system, and Apex, unfortunately, seems to be repeating its mistake. Despite the outrage, the Shadow Society event is following in the footsteps of the FFVII Rebirth Event. This has disappointed the fan base, as the start of Season 20 was a step in the right direction.
With the weird event type and the recent hack at the ALGS Finals, Apex seems to be taking two steps backward after taking one step forward.
Mid-Season Patch Notes
The Shadow Society Event is also bringing us the mid-season patch notes. These changes buff and nerf Legends and shake up a few things.
Legend Changes
Season 20 introduced the perk system in Apex. While a great change overall, it required some tweaking, which this event is bringing us.
