India Vs Australia ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 LIVE Updates: MS Dhoni To Be Present For Final?

Team India will be bidding for their third World title when they take on Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Rohit Sharma’s Indian side won their 10th match on the trot – defeating New Zealand by 70 runs in the semifinal match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday to enter the ODI World Cup final for the fourth time in their history.

Australia, on the other hand, squeezed past South Africa by three wickets in a low-scoring semifinal match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday. The two sides will be facing off in the title in what will be a repeat of the 2003 ODI World Cup final, which was won by the Aussies in Johannesburg.

World Cup 2023 final to be glittering affair

The World Cup 2023 final is expected to be a glittering affair with Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expected attend the title clash. A magnificent closing ceremony for the final has also been planned with international star Dua Lipa set to perform in it.

Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Surya Kiran team is set to perform an air show at the venue ahead of the blockbuster World Cup 2023 title clash. The Defence PRO for Gujarat, on Thursday announced that the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team will perform a 10-min air show before the start of the final match on November 19. The rehearsals of the air show will be held on Friday and Saturday, the PRO said in a statement.

Apart from PM Modi, a plethora of Bollywood stars are also expected to attend the India vs Australia final like they did in the semifinal match in Mumbai.

Team India practice session from 2pm on Friday

Rohit Sharma’s Indian team have already reached Ahmedabad and will be holding their first training session at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday from 2pm IST. Pat Cummins-led Australian team are expected to reach the city later on Friday.

Hosts India have received a grand welcome on their return to Ahmedabad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final against Australia on Sunday. India had defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 7 wickets in the World Cup 2023 league stage match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad last month.

India are the only unbeaten team in the World Cup 2023 on their way through to the final. They will aim to become just the third team after Australia and West Indies to win the World Cup with an unbeaten record. 

Mohammad Shami Vs Adam Zampa showdown

The World Cup 2023 final will also be a showdown between pacer Mohammad Shami and leg-spinner Adam Zampa to decide who will finish as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament. Shami, who picked up a career-best 7/57 in the India vs New Zealand semifinal has 23 wickets in just 6 matches.

Australian leg-spinner Zampa has claimed 22 wickets in 10 matches so far. The final on Sunday may well decide who will finish on top of wickets tally. Virat Kohli is the leading run-scorer with 711 runs in 10 matches. 

Australian PM Anthony Albanese invited for final

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has been sent special invitation to atten the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. It is being speculated that Indian PM Narendra Modi will also be attending the match.

PM Narendra Modi and Anthony Albanese had attended the fourth Test between India and Australia at the same venue earlier this year. The match had ended in a draw.

MS Dhoni to be present for final?

The International Cricket Council (ICC) have invited all previous World Cup-winning captain for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Fans are speculating that MS Dhoni, who last led India to the World Cup title in 2011 will also be present at the stadium on Sunday.

Incidently, Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings to record-equalling fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title at the same venue in May this year. Dhoni has been spending time in his paternal village in Uttarakhand with wife Sakshi and daughter Ziva currently. 

Sachin and Yuvraj to be present at the final

Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh, the winners of the 2011 ODI World Cup, will be at the Narendra Modi Stadium to watch the final of the 2023 edition between Rohit Sharma’s India and Pat Cummins-led Australia.

Their presence is surely going to add glamour to the already star-studded list of the guests for th summit clash.
