Josh Allen and the Bills narrowly held on for a win over the Giants on Sunday night, but Allen himself didn’t walk away unscathed.
The Bills quarterback admitted after the game that he suffered an injury in the first half, though he finished the game without appearing to be affected by pain and even threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter.
Allen hasn’t missed a start since his rookie season in 2018, but he dealt with an elbow injury for much of the 2022 season. Allen didn’t look quite the same down the stretch while playing through the injury last season, so his health is worth monitoring even if he stays on the field.

Here are the latest updates on Allen’s status after the Bills’ “Sunday Night Football” victory.
Josh Allen injury update
Allen admitted after Sunday’s win that he suffered a shoulder injury in the second quarter.
He said the injury occurred one play before he was removed from the game by a concussion spotter. Allen was quickly cleared to return with no signs of a concussion, but his shoulder was banged up from the previous play.
Still, Allen downplayed the injury. He declined to go into detail about how he felt, telling reporters, “I played the entire second half.” Allen threw two touchdown passes in the second half.
Allen said he got hurt in the second quarter. Play before he went into the blue medical tent. When asked more about the injury he said “I played the entire second half”
Also said the last throw to Knox had nothing to do with his injury. Said he just didn’t put enough on it.

Allen did undergo X-rays after the game, however. Coach Sean McDermott said all scans came back clean.
Josh Allen’s scans are all normal for his shoulder injury. Damien Harris’s scans are all normal, had full movement and heading in the right direction, per Sean McDermott.

Considering Allen was able to finish Sunday’s game without any obvious signs of injury, his status going forward doesn’t appear to be in doubt. The Bills head to Foxborough to face the Patriots in Week 7 before hosting the Buccaneers on “Thursday Night Football” four days later.
Still, it will be worth monitoring Allen’s practice status throughout the week. He didn’t miss any time with last season’s elbow injury, but it certainly seemed to affect him down the stretch. After a concerning night from an offensive standpoint, the last thing the Bills need is a limited quarterback.
