Here are the most picked Agent compositions at Masters Madrid for every map.
The first Valorant international event of 2024 has concluded, and we have seen some significant changes to Agent compositions compared to last year’s Masters Tokyo. One of the primary changes is how Skye’s nerfs have prompted teams to play with different Initiators, especially Gekko.
A few things remain unchanged. Viper is still one of the best Agents in pro play, and it seems as though the double-Controller meta is not going away anytime soon. Most teams are comfortable with one entry, and Raze still holds the position of most picked Duelist.
Let’s take a detailed look at the most successful Agent compositions at Masters Madrid.
Masters Madrid Agent Composition – Ascent
Sova
KAY/O
Jett
Omen
Killjoy
In 2023, Ascent was a map where the Sova, KAY/O and Killjoy lineup dominated throughout the year across different regions, even though other maps had more variations. This time at Masters, both LOUD and Paper Rex experimented with different comps with their double-Controller picks, but the highest-used composition is still the old Jett and Killjoy meta.
With this Agent setup, you have the advantage of taking easy map control with two Initiators: Sova and KAY/O. Even in defense, you can retake parts of the map using Sova’s recon abilities, which are best paired with KAY/O’s flashes.
Even though Cypher is a very powerful Sentinel right now with his recent buffs, Killjoy remains a staple pick because her ultimate can cover an entire site during attacks or retakes. This is also a map where Jett is picked instead of Raze, as you can have much more impact with an Operator at hand.
Masters Madrid Agent Composition – Bind

We saw a lot of different Agent lineups on Bind. The one we mentioned was played by Sentinels twice, and it uses two Initiators and Controllers. Other teams went for either two Controllers and one Initiator or the opposite. Most rosters did not pick a Sentinel Agent on Bind except Gen.G and EDG, who had Cypher in the mix.
Brimstone will be the primary Controller Agent on this map, as you will need three smokes to execute a site properly. For example, when taking A, you might need to smoke A shower alongside the site and A tower.
Viper will play the role of a Sentinel, holding down B on defense and taking A short control on attack. Two Initiators will help you take more map control with Raze, who is going to be the primary Duelist in the map as her satchels help with entries.
Masters Madrid Agent Composition – Breeze

The Jett-Viper-Sova-KAY/O comp used to be the meta on Breeze, and teams like Sentinels, LOUD and EDG continued to use this lineup on this map during Masters Madrid. That being said, Gen.G had the most success with an unusual Agent formation on Breeze that used Astra as a second Controller while not having a Cypher.
From the look of it, Astra’s smokes can help you take/retake a site by dividing up the areas of the map. Viper, on the other hand, will take on the role of a Sentinel Agent on defense while applying the regular smokes on attack.
This composition uses two Duelists. Jett is an excellent pick for two reasons: 1. You don’t have the same impact on Raze due to the sheer size of Breeze, and 2. Having an Operator is crucial on defense. In contrast, Gen.G used Yoru to have an instant player advantage to stop attacks since the Agent can teleport to different places. Lastly, Sova is a staple pick, as you will need recon abilities to counter the Operator.
Masters Madrid Agent Composition – Sunset

The newest map in Valorant has been in its first international event, and teams have mostly had their own unique comps on it instead of following a defined meta. Some rosters opted for two Controllers, while others had two Initiators.
Paper Rex, on the other hand, had the most innovative lineup with two Initiators, two Controllers and Sage without any Duelist Agent. This comp turned out to be the most successful, with the Singaporeans winning three out of their four matches.
Now, just because PRX were able to secure good results with this comp doesn’t mean you can do the same in Premier. The Pacific squad used Sage to slow down retakes on attacks, while Viper wall helped take B main control.
This comp has a lot of mollies. That’s why your plan should be getting Spike down and stopping defuses with abilities. On defense, your team will have to take map control on A main or B main with the help of Viper-Omen smokes, as well as KAY/O and Gekko utilities.
Masters Madrid Agent Composition – Lotus

Sentinels had the most success on Lotus at Masters Madrid, winning all four of their games on this map with the double-Controller lineup that uses Fade as the only Initiator. Last year, Skye used to be a regular pick on this map, and now most teams have abandoned her on Lotus after her nerfs.
You will rarely see Viper being played on Lotus, but having her along with Omen proves to be the winning formula in pro play. Viper’s smokes help you with A control on both defense and attack, cutting down the big area into small chunks.
Omen’s Shrouded Steps (C) have great impacts on this map to take fast control of an area, and when paired with Raze’s movements, you can easily execute any site. Having a Killjoy is crucial to hold down C and get information on B since, most of the time, the rest of the team will be fighting for A on defense.
Masters Madrid Agent Composition – Split

Cypher
The most successful comp on Split during this Masters was Sentinels’ one, and they were one of the only two teams to use Cypher alongside the two Controller picks. LOUD and EDG had a pretty similar lineup, with the only difference being a Breach pick in place of Cypher.
With Viper, you can control mid better on defense with the help of Omen’s refreshing smokes and create lurk scenarios on A during attacks. Cypher can also lurk on attack and hold down any of the sites during defense while the rest of the team fights for control on B or mid.
Raze is the perfect Duelist in a map like Split, where small chokepoints let her use explosive abilities to inflict damage. On top of it, she can quickly satchel into A ramp, sites or mid to take fast control with the help of Skye’s utility.
Masters Madrid Agent Composition – Icebox

Harbor
Killjoy
Icebox is back in the rotation, and most teams have been using double-Initiator comps with Viper as the single Controller on this map. The most successful Agent lineup, however, was LOUD’s Viper-Harbor pick, which stopped any attempt of control by the opposition.
With Viper, you can always have smokes ready for defending A, and while your abilities refresh, the Harbor in your team can use their smokes for control. The same method of control is used on attacking halves.
Jett can enter sites for her team with the help of Sova’s utilities and hold on to an Operator during defense. Lastly, Killjoy can get information on mid-lurks during defensive halves, and her lockdown can massively help take or retake sites.
