Entering hostile territory once again, WBA super flyweight champion Joshua Franco is ready to settle another rivalry in decisive fashion. In his way will be the excellent Kazuto Ioka, who has a point to prove on June 24 at the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo.
This will be a rematch of their original encounter, which took place on New Year’s Eve and ended in a controversial 12-round majority draw at the very same venue
Franco, 28, is accustomed to multi-fight rivalries. “El Profesor” went 1-0-2 with Oscar Negrete and 2-0 with one controversial no-contest against Andrew Moloney.
With eight wins via knockout, Franco will look to be the aggressor right away against Ioka, who was Japan’s first male four-weight world champion.
“My condition is good. I’m ready to go,” Franco said via Japan Times. “I just feel like I need to dominate more than I did last time. I feel like there will be a point in the fight that I hurt him, so if I do hurt him, I’ll try to take advantage of it. (I’ll) just be smart, get my punches right, and do what I do, and that’s go in there and fight and put on a good show.”

Ioka, 34, had his six-fight win streak snapped following the draw with Franco. The then-WBO super flyweight champion was supposed to defend against Junto Nakatani but vacated the belt to face Franco again. The Japanese star is hoping that gamble pays off.
