Introduced in late September 2022 alongside the Ryzen 5 7600X and the Ryzen 9 7900X/7950X duo, the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X processor had a launch price of US$399. Now available on Amazon with a higher list price of US$449, it can be acquired for US$314.06 thanks to a generous discount of no less than 30%.
With a base clock of 4.5 GHz, up to 5.4 GHz boost speed, as well as the ability to further overclock it beyond these limits, the 8-core, 16-thread AMD Ryzen 7 7700X features DDR5-5200 and PCIe 5.0 support on certain motherboards and remains a worthy desktop processor as its first anniversary is drawing near. The rather low TDP of 105 W should also be taken into account, since the closely related Ryzen 7 7800X3D hits no less than 120 W on stock clocks.
Sadly, the price of the processor mentioned above might be a problem, since it launched for US$399, going up to US$449 shortly after its late September 2022 release. Now, Amazon has it listed with the same US$449 list price, but the ongoing 30% discount brings this chip down to US$314.59.
According to the price tracking platform Camelcamelcamel, the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X has an average price of US$322.44 based on the last 50 changes. In addition to the processor alone (there is no cooler in the box and AMD recommends the use of a liquid cooling solution), Amazon also offers a few bundles that include a motherboard as well, such as the high-end Gigabyte X670E AORUS XTREME. In this case, the bundle has a list price of US$1,148.99 and — thanks to an 11% discount — can be currently acquired for US$1,014.58.
