On March 21st, at the AMD AI PC Innovation Summit held in Beijing, AMD CEO Lisa Su appeared on stage and delivered a speech. This was her first visit to mainland China in a year. In April last year, Lisa Su visited mainland China and had discussions with major clients such as Lenovo.
In the speech session themed around AI PCs, Lisa Su announced that their new AI PC processors are officially available in the Chinese market. The main products include the Ryzen 8040 series for laptops and the Ryzen 8000G series for desktops. The Ryzen 8040 series was officially released by AMD last December, with a performance improvement of about 60% compared to its first-generation AI PC processor. Lenovo, ASUS, and other manufacturers are among the first batch of partners.
At the event, AMD also showcased features such as Text-to-Image and Text-to-Video that run large local models on AI PCs based on its processors.
“AI is one of the most important technologies in the past 50 years,” Lisa Su is very optimistic about AI, believing that it will disrupt the traditional PC industry and firmly believes that it will trigger an unprecedented wave of device replacement in the future. AMD has also announced its three major strategies for AI PCs to the public.
First, a wide variety of training and inference computing engine combinations. In order to bring AI experience to traditional PCs, AMD has mainly developed three sets of computing engines, namely CPU based on Zen architecture, GPU based on AMD RDNA, and NPU AI engine based on AMD XDNA. Among them, the XDNA architecture adopted by AMD NPU is achieved through the acquisition of FPGA chip manufacturer Xlinx. This is a customized technology for specific scenarios that the company applies to improve the gaming experience of AI PCs.
Secondly, open and mature software functionality. AMD will focus on the ecosystem where an open, validated, developer-friendly software platform allows all leading artificial intelligence frameworks, libraries and models.
Thirdly, deep cooperation in innovative AI ecosystems. AMD collaborates with world-leading brands to truly innovate together and push artificial intelligence solutions into the market.

The Chinese market is also an important part of its AI layout.
Lisa Su made several commitments to the investment and construction of AMD Greater China, including investing in research and development centers and AI excellence centers, as well as collaborating with large enterprises to jointly develop and build ecosystems. According to their statistics, there are currently over 4,000 engineers working in multiple AMD city branches in China.
With the continuous rise of the AI boom, AMD has become one of the first beneficiaries.
The company’s market value has reached a new historical high, surpassing 310 billion US dollars at one point. The current latest market value is 288.7 billion US dollars. In response to NVIDIA’s launch of the MI300 series GPU, AMD is currently intensifying its stocking efforts. As of the end of last year, AMD’s stock price had risen by more than 120%.
