Infrastructure is in style and one of Canada’s largest pension funds leads this week’s collection of personnel moves from around Asia Pacific with its appointment of a new head of infrastructure overseeing its global operations. Also the making the list is CapitaLand China Trust adding one of Chip Eng Seng boss Gordon Tang’s collaborators to its board and a trio of director changes at mainland developers.
OMERS announced on that 2 August that it has appointed Michael Hill as executive vice president and global head of infrastructure, effective from 5 September. Hill joins the Ontario government institution after previously serving as managing director and head of the sustainable energies group for the Americas at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) and takes over from Annesley Wallace, who left OMERS in May to join Calgary pipeline operator TC Energy Corporation.
CapitaLand China Trust Management, the manager of CapitaLand China Trust, announced to the Singapore exchange on 1 August that it has appointed Tan Tee How, former permanent secretary with both the Ministry of National Development and the Ministry of Home Affairs, as a non-executive independent director. Now 64, Tan’s appointment was with immediate effect with the career bureaucrat also serving as chairman of the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Singapore and as an executive director of Gordon and Celine Tang-controlled developer Chip Eng Seng.
Mainland developer Fantasia Holdings Group informed the Hong Kong stock exchange on 3 August that Zhu Guogang has resigned from his position as an executive director. Zhu, who joined the troubled mainland builder’s board in December 2021 had also resigned from his role as an executive director with Colour Life, the property management unit of Fantasia, in June of this year. Zhu is said to have no disagreements with the board.
Shimao Group Holdings said in an announcement to the Hong Kong stock exchange on 2 August that Lu Yi has been redesignated from executive director and executive president of the mainland developer to non-executive director with effect from that date. Now 39, Lu has been with Shimao since 2008 and currently oversees the company’s business in Fujian, Guangdong and Hainan as well as supervising Shimao’s asset management activities.
Vanke Overseas Investment Holding on 31 July announced a new slate of directors led by the promotion of Yip Hoi Man (pictured) from chief financial officer to chief executive with effect from 1 August. Now 40, Yip has been with the company which manages Vanke’s overseas investments since 2014 and takes over the chief executive role from Que Dongwu, 57, who is retiring after serving as CEO since 2019.
Christophe Al-Taie has been promoted to head of events and brand experience for Asia Pacific with JLL in Singapore, according to a LinkedIn update. Al-Taie is responsible for event management, brand strategy and event marketing in his new role and is taking his step up after spending more than two years as APAC campaign and event programs lead and more than nine years after first joining JLL in the Southeast Asian financial hub.
Alexander Shepherd has joined Evolution Data Centres in Singapore as general counsel and interim chief operating officer, according to a LinkedIn update. Shepherd joins the Warburg Pincus-backed startup after serving as a partner with law firm Pinsent Masons in Singapore where he was a partner in the firm’s APAC technology, media and telecommunications team and also has previous experience with law firms Bird & Bird and with Simmons & Simmons.
Irish Lee has joined Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd in Hong Kong as a property analyst with the company’s corporate planning and strategic investment team, according to a LinkedIn update. Lee joins Hong Kong’s largest developer by market valuation after two and half years as an analyst with multi-family office Bricks & Mortar Management and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University graduate also has previous experience with fund manager Pamfleet (now part of Schroders Real Estate).
