According to reports, little over five months will separate the launches of the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 from the Galaxy S24 series. Reputedly, Samsung hopes to sell at least 10% more Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra units than the Galaxy S23 series, with production set at a total of 30 million units globally.
According to the fervent Ice Universe, Samsung is also planning to release its next flagship smartphones before the current Galaxy S23 series’ anniversary. To recap, Xiaomi is rumoured to be on track to launch the Xiaomi 14 series before its Singles’ Day special event in China. Traditionally, this event occurs on November 11, a month before the introduction of the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. Thus, Xiaomi may be less than two months away from replacing its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-based flagships.
Purportedly, Qualcomm will make this possible by unveiling the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in October, eleven months after the presentation of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Based on earlier leaks, Qualcomm has switched to TSMC N4P nodes for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a minor upgrade from N4 nodes that underpin all Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 variants. Additionally, Qualcomm is said to have built the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 using an ARM Cortex-X4 prime core clocked at 3.3 GHz, three Cortex-A720 performance cores that can boost to 3.15 GHz, another two Cortex-A720 cores restricted to 2.95 GHz and a pair of Cortex-A520 efficiency cores that will never get past 2.27 GHz.
Moreover, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is rumoured to contain the Adreno 750 too, a GPU that is expected to outperform the Adreno 740 in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 by upwards of 50%. However, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy is also anticipated, which will up its Cortex-X4 prime core from 3.3 GHz to 3.39 GHz. Reportedly, Samsung will begin mass producing the Galaxy S24 series in November, a month earlier than last year with the Galaxy S23 series. As such, it seems that Samsung is targeting a January 2024 launch for its next Galaxy S smartphones.
Furthermore, ETNews reports that Samsung will produce 30 million Galaxy S24 series units, 10% more than its predecessor. Incidentally, the Galaxy S23 series outsold the Galaxy S22 series by over a fifth, making a 10% uplift a rather conservative estimate on Samsung’s behalf. ETNews adds that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will make up the majority of units produced, with 15 million estimated compared to 7.5 million units each for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus.
