On January 15th, it was reported that a person close to CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd.) stated that the construction of CATL’s Beijing factory has commenced.
The Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform issued an announcement on January 11, which included the heavyweight news of planning to start construction on the CATL Beijing factory project this year.
In addition to the CATL Beijing factory, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform also stated that Li Auto will plan to establish a component production base, etc. Xiaomi‘s first car model SU7 and Li Auto‘s first battery electric vehicle model MEGA will both be produced in Beijing, and both models will be equipped with Qilin Battery from CATL.
Regarding the announcement from Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, CATL states that there is no information available for disclosure at this time. As of now, CATL has established a total of 11 production bases in China, located in Fujian, Jiangsu, Qinghai, Sichuan, and other regions. Additionally, they also have two major production bases in Hungary and Germany.
